Along time ago, not too far, far away, a man with a passion for real ale decided to learn how to brew and discovered that actually he was pretty good at it! In a small converted stable, in the heart of the medieval Tindall Wood, Tindall Ales Brewery was born.
The man ‘Allan Green’ had a dream of producing a quality ale using the finest local ingredients wherever possible to help support the local community.
In 1998, this dream became a reality as people far and wide began to sample and enjoy the range of ales on offer and as demand grew, it was clear that “we’re gonna need a bigger stable”. In 2002 the brewery re-located to converted stables on part of what once was the 448th bombing group throughout WWII.
Bigger premises meant bigger ideas and innovative new brews were created and loved by all. Bottling equipment enabled what were becoming very popular ales to be enjoyed anywhere and everywhere. Tindall Ales was fast becoming a well known brand throughout East Anglia.
With the business now established, Allan had created a very special legacy to hopefully pass on to the next generation when the time was right. So following a period of semi-retirement, during which the brewing became more of an enjoyable hobby, Allan's son Michael began to express an ever growing interest in the business and after 3 years of learning the ropes, he decided to take hold of the reigns and the revival of Tindall Ales Brewery began.
It was soon clear that Michael had indeed inherited his fathers flare and passion for brewing, winning ‘Gold’ at the Rail Ale Festival, beating big names in the same class such as Greene King and Timothy Taylor.
“I plan to carry on my fathers legacy, creating a quality product, sourcing the best possible ingredients, supporting the local community and bringing the business into the 21st century, whilst continuing to focus on traditional customer service.
The well known and loved favorites from yesteryear will remain at the heart of our product range but watch this space as further creations begin to arise in the future.
Among the list of things to come are brewery tap nights, tours and open days. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and look forward to welcoming customers both old and new”
